Configure Promoted Links in Share Point 2013 and Office 365

Hi All,

In our current post we will see how to create Promoted Lists in SharePoint 2013 and Office 365.

Promoted Links:
  • Promoted Links is a new list type in SharePoint 2013. In some ways it is very much like the link lists available in previous versions of SharePoint. However, it adds a couple of special new features such as  include a background image with a link and the ability to control the link target to open the linked content in a separate window
  • Use this list to display a set of link actions in a tile based visual layout
Generally when we create Team Site in Share Point 2013 , The home page will looks as follows with Promoted Links.

As per our demo purpose delete home page links , by clicking on "Remove this"

Now we will see , how to create Promoted Links App.
Navigate to View All Site Contents by clicking on Site Contents from Site Settings wheel.
Now click on add an app.

Now, click on Promoted Links app.

Provide App Name and click on Create.


In Site Contents we can find out our Promoted List app (Links in our case). Click on the App.


Now, Create a new Promoted Item by clicking on New button and in NewForm.aspx Provide the details.
Now navigate to Page where you want to show this Links.After that Edit the Page and add the New Web part.



Change the Web part properties like set chrome type to None(Optional).Click on Apply and OK.

Now , we will see our Promoted Links as follows in our Page as our favourite Windows tiles view.
